I know what your saying, “do you really need so many warnings on a magnet?” Well, these magnets aren’t necessarily dangerous when mounted on the wall, just keep people with medically implanted devices such as pacemakers at a safe distance from the cap catcher. If you have one of these implanted devices, I would not recommend the product. Also if you have these magnets lying around, be sure not to put electronic devices such as cell phones next to them; magnets damage electronics.
These magnets also contain a warning required by California law that they contain a substance known to the State of California that is know to cause cancer and birth defects.
This is because the magnet is coated with the metal Nickel, which is on their list. Technically, there would need to be a scientific study to determine the amount of Nickel that might be transferred to your skin by removing bottle caps from the magnet. So who really knows if this is any concern, but to be safe, wash your hands after handling and let’s definitely not lick the magnet!
The magnets are somewhat dangerous when not attached to the wall. If you have the magnet on a table next to magnetic objects, they can be attracted to each other with great force. Especially if you have two of these rare earth magnets within the attraction distance, they can fly at each other with such force that they will explode into many sharp pieces.
If you are purchasing one of the magnets to install below an existing wall mounted opener, use care when removing magnet screw from packaging. When approaching the magnet screw with screwdriver, use caution as you will feel a very strong magnetic pull.
Also use care not to drop and the magnet when attaching. Although these magnets look like heavy duty metal and can break more easily than one would think.
